Near the end of my sentence in JWland I did that and a hundred other things to get out of going to meetings. I became a master of excuses.

OMG ....we overslept lol
by judi8751 indid anyone else do this on sunday mornings: when i was slowly waking up i realised that i didnt want to be at the meetings anymore, my hubby would be sleeping and i realised it was time to get up & get ready, so even though i was bursting for the loo i would hold it so as not to wake him up .
sometimes i was in pain holding it in , but waited till it was too late to get there on time lol.
then he would suggest going to the afternoon meeting intead and i would say i didnt like that congregation...you go hahahahaha, funny thing is he never liked going to the meetings by himself!!!

It's not family shunning you it's you shunning them disrespecting them hurting them. Be like Jesus and be humble
Don't you just love this twisted logic? The reply to that is very simple. If someone who has left the Witnesses says hello to a JW and the JW ingores them who is shunning who? Ask any normal person and you'll get the right answer. Ask someone brainwashed by a cult and you'll probably get the above answer. The second sentence should read: "Be like me. Be gullible."

Good story. I'd feed Bobby those rotten duck eggs the Chinese bury in the ground for extended periods before eating.
I live on great gobbs of oatmeal since going mostly vegan last year so I really enjoy eggs when I have them. Had some great Huevos Rancheros and steamed eggs while on vacation last week.

How about this one by Jennifer Knapp who had the courage to come out of the closet a few years ago and be herself.

"You don't get a second chance to make a first impression" AAWA
by yesidid inthe first impression one has of any group or organization is its name.
that is my problem with "the name'.
active, or even questioning witnesses will undoubtedly be alarmed by the connotation of name.

The name is direct and to the point. Sometimes it is good to be subtle sometimes you have to get right to the point. I think in this case a lot of people are saying enough is enough and are trying to do something to put an end to all the damage the Watchtower does to peoples lives. I don't see a problem with that.

The FIRST Memorial Ive missed in 41 years
by Londo111 inlast year, my last jw memorial, i listened to the talk as an outsider would.
the speaker strung unrelated texts together and for the first time, i saw that the interpretations made no sense.
afterward, i had a private memorial with homemade unleavened bread and wine with four people--three of whom partook.

Why attend when you can deny Christ in the privacy of your own home.

It's been over 30 years since I attended one. Can't say I miss the wine and crackers because I never got any.

warped logic from the memorial talk
by why144000 inspeaker said we should not partake because when jesus arrives he will take the remnat to heaven and the memorial will be no more.
just as we will not partake then (because the memorial will not exist) it is only logical that we will not partake now.
warped logic at its finest!.

First thing that came to mind when I read your post was exactly what Terry said. Jesus said do this till I return...well didn't he return in 1914? I mean in their mind not in reality.
A big part of the problem cults have when they make things up claiming some special knowledge is that they don't think things completely through and then find themselves in trouble trying to explain their position which usually leads to more lying and making more things up.
They didn't think it through when the came up with their two class of Christian system. The partakers (heavenly hopers) non partakers (earthly hopers). They didn't look far enough into the future to see a time when their KH would be filled with people passing around the wine and crackers and no one partaking of them in what has turned in to a ridiculous farce doing the exact opposite of what was originally intended.
On their biggest day of the year they gather together to deny communion with Christ. Seems a odd thing for those claiming to be the only true Christians to do.
